Keyboard shortcuts: Find a brush, hold down ctrl+alt, click brush, tap key

First turn off wide buttons. Preferences -> Interface -> Wide buttons

Now Preferences -> Enable customize

ctrl-alt, click drag a button to the shelf areas. The brush menu must be docked, and you're dragging the smaller ones around the big current active tool.

When done, turn off enable customise again, and in the same menu hit save config.
